Capital account opening balances import
Onboard a fund that is already operating.
Preview documentation. Details may change before the API is released.
Loads opening balances so a fund that is already operating can start in the platform. The import posts one opening-balance journal entry. The balances must tie to Partners' Capital, or validation fails.
Process
Every import follows the same steps: upload, map columns, validate, preview and commit. Nothing is written until you commit. A committed import can be rolled back. Rows that are not referenced elsewhere are removed. Rows that are referenced are reversed, except in a closed accounting period, where the rollback is refused.
Rules for every file
- UTF-8 CSV with a header row.
- Dates as
YYYY-MM-DDorMM/DD/YYYY. Amounts as plain decimals without currency symbols. - Each row is validated on its own. Errors are listed per row with the column and the reason.
- Cells that begin with
=,+,-or@are treated as text and are escaped on export. - Files are limited in size. The limit is shown on the upload screen.
- Saved column mappings are reused the next time you import this type.
Columns
Draft columns. The final list is shown in the fund portal and may change before release.
